Brown Bears Alum Skating in the NHL 

 

The Kenai River Brown Bears would like to congratulate former Brown Bear, Andrej Sustr for earning a spot on the opening day roster for the Tampa Bay Lightening.  Sustr, a 6’8, 225lb defensemen played for the Bears during the 2008-2009 season, and then spent a year in the USHL before beginning a successful collegiate career at University of Nebraska – Omaha.

 

As a college player, Sustr racked up 51 points in 111 games, before opting to leave school early to pursue his professional career. Upon leaving school last season, Sustr skated two games for the Tampa Bay Lightening, and 8 others for the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.

 

On behalf of the entire Brown Bears’ organization, we would like to congratulate Andrej on his accomplishment, and wish him the best of luck in the NHL.

 

The Lightening open their season on the road against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night, at 7 pm EST.
