
Friday : Bears 2 Minotauros 4
It was a nail biting weekend for Brown Bear fans. On Friday the Bears landed in the center of the Labyrinth in Minot North Dakota, and did not come out victorious. The Tauros started the scoring out in the first period and continued it into the second. Down 2-0 going into the third forward Luke Posner gave the Bear’s some life cutting the lead to one, but Minot answered back with a third goal, leaving the Bears clawing forward yet again . Defenseman Marcus Komuls cut the lead to one again late in the period, but there was too much time left for the Tauros . They sealed the defeat with an empty netter and seconds left on the clock. Tauros win 4-2. Luke Radetic, Sacha Guillemain, Gil Garcia, And Posner all had playmaking assists during the game, with Artur Pavliukov making 30 of 33 saves.
Saturday: Bears 4 Minotauros 3
In Saturdays game the Bears chopped the head off the Minotauros in their own barn and it was a bloody battle. Forward Gil Garcia drew first blood scoring less than a minute into the game after the Minotauros’s Noah Ganske crossed the red line during warmups earning some time in the sin bin at puck drop. While that power play goal was the only goal in the First, It set the tone of the game for the Bears and the second period saw Sacha Guillemain, and Michael Spethmann both hitting the back of the net on the Power Play. Leading 3 zip early in the second, the Bears may have gotten comfortable with too much time left in the game, the Minotauros took advantage. They cut the Bears lead to one by the end of the second dominating play and looking very composed, but not managing to completely break Gavin Enright in the net who stopped 20 of their 22 shots to keep the Bears alive. The third period was filled with controversial plays including the Tauros third goal which clearly bounced off the post behind Enright and never crossed the line. At 3-3 on a “fake” goal, the remaining 9 mins in the third bore a chippy under current and fueled a game winning goal by Veteran Luke Radetic with less than a minute left to play. The buzzer sounds, The Brown Bears win 4-3 in a game with 24 penalty mins mostly roughing calls. Gavin Enright had an outstanding night in net saving the Bears on numerous occasions stopping 46 of 49 shots from the Minotauros. Luke Radetic, Sacha Guillemain, Cameron McDonald, Emil Ezitis, Alex Klekotka, and Markus Komuls all had playmaking assists in Saturdays game to set up the Bears for the win.
