WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee Wild won 4-3 in a shootout Saturday to complete a three-game sweep of Kenai River, but the Brown Bears wouldn\’t go quietly for the second straight game after getting blown out 10-2 in the series opener.

On the night after they clinched the West Division title, the Wild twice had to come from behind against the last-place team in their division, and needed a goal from their last shooter to win the shootout.

Kenai River\’s fifth shooter, Derek Bayagich, scored the Brown Bears\’ only goal of the shootout, tying things at 1-1. The Wild, who had gotten a goal from Jeff Jubinville in the first round of the shootout, won it when their fifth shooter, Dajon Mingo, beat Mike Martin to end it.

All of the goals scored by Kenai River in regulation came on the power play, as the Brown Bears converted three of six power play chances. The Wild, on the other hand, were 0 for 5 on the power play.

Kenai River scored first, at 4:40 of the second period, then regained the lead at 11:19 of the second period after the Wild\’s Shawn Pauly had tied it at 7:31.

Jeff Jubinville scored with less than two minutes left in the middle period to knot it at 2-2 after two.

Armand de Swardt scored at 3:48 of the third period to give the Wild its first lead of the game, but Kenai River answered three and a half minutes later.
