Green vs White Game

Green v. White Game a Big Hit for Fans! The Green v. White intersquad game recently played at Soldotna Sports Center was a fun evening for Brown Bear fans of all ages. The evening began with a Meet and Greet where fans had an opportunity to enjoy pizza and meet their favorite players. Grizz was on hand as well for autographs and photos! Fan support was impressive as over 250 people showed up on a sunny Alaskan evening to catch their first glimpse of the NEW Kenai River Brown Bears! The game started out slowly. The boys had been training hard on and off the ice and it showed. The game tempo gradually picked up as Tyler Paulson, Derek Bayagich and Wayne Ravdjee earned multiple points on the night. Head Coach Marty Quarters was happy with the intensity and speed of the game. \”We felt the players gave the fans a taste of what they can expect this coming season, wihich is a blue collar team composed of speed, desire and determination. I would like to thank all of our loyal fans for coming out and supporting our team. We look forward to more exciting nights at the Sports Center.\” Kenai twenty year-old veteran Jed McGlasson was introduced as captain of this year\’s club during the 2nd intermission at center ice. \”McGlasson has been leading by example since we all arrived\”, Assistant Coach Oliver David commented. \”He has not let up yet, working hard each day. He\’s a great leader,\” Coach David added. The score ended up lopsided in a 7-1 victory for the Green team, but the night was most important as the coaching staff got a good look at the players. The Brown Bears open their season this Friday with a three game set against the Alaska Avalanche in Wasilla. Following the weekend, the team will head south to play in the highly touted NAHL Showcase in Blaine, MN. The first home game for the Bears will be on Friday, October 9th, against the Bismark Bobcats.
