
The Kenai River Brown Bears are on the NAHL radar with stellar saves this past weekend from # 30 goalie Artur Pavliukov. Artur put the Bears on the League map with a save coming in at #3 of the NAHL’s “Plays of the week” edition . The Bears tore it up in Springfield notching a 2-1 shootout win on Friday night, and then turning on their offensive talent with an 8-3 rout of the Springfield Junior Blues in Saturday’s game. On Friday the play making assists came from newly acquired defenseman #2 Marcus Komuls, and veteran forward #9 Alex Klekotka, with the game goal and shootout goal put in the net by the focused playing of #11 Emils Ezitis. On Saturday veteran forward #16 David Kaplan opened up the scoring in the first three minutes of the game and rookie #23 Luke Posner closed out the period putting the Bears on the board again with three minutes left . In the second period Kenai rookies #17 Sutton McDonald, and Posner, both added points, bringing the score to 4-3 at the end of the second, and in the third period the Bears ran away with the game. Bear’s Veteran #11 Luke Radetic put up a pair of goals, along with a goal by rookie talent #18 Gil Garcia. #14, home grown talent Ross Hanson, put the exclamation point on the game giving the Bears an 8-3 win. Play making assists on Saturday were made by #4 Sacha Guilleman, Alex Klekotka, Emils Ezitis, Luke Radetic, # 15 Joseph Allegrini, Gil Garcia and Luke Posner. Pavliukov saved 96 shots over the two game series.
