OFFICIAL FAMILY MEDICINE TEAM

Dr. Wasson

Dr. Wasson originally grew up in the Seattle area, spending each summer at his family’s cabin in Eagle Village, Alaska. Living in the rainy northwest for years prompted him to move to Southwest where he got his undergraduate degree in physiology at the sunny University of Arizona. He received his medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, New York. Dr. Wasson completed his residency at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, California with a special interest and training in geriatrics. His love of the wilderness brought him back to Alaska to practice medicine. His hobbies include fishing, backpacking, hunting and woodworking. He has volunteered to provide medical care to underserved communities abroad in Africa, India and Jamaica and hopes to continue to find opportunities to serve going forward.

Chris Shults PA-C

Chris was born in Anchorage and graduated from Service High School in 1982. His first foray into prehospital medicine was as a member of the Denali Ski Patrol at Arctic Valley in 1978. Chris became a paramedic in 1986 and worked both in Anchorage and the Oil Field as a paramedic. He moved away from Anchorage in 1992 to Denver, Colorado where he worked as a paramedic until 2006 when he went back to school to complete a Physician Assistant Masters program at St Francis University.  He specialized in Cardiology, Emergency medicine, Liver/Kidney Transplant surgery and Trauma/Acute Care surgery. He leaves Colorado as a Faculty instructor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. Chris now focuses on Occupational and Environmental medicine for Employers and Workers in Alaska.

After 30 years Chris returns to Alaska, to live in Kenai and serve the members of the Peninsula Community. To that end he is a member of the Alaska Air National Guard and a Rotarian. He lives with his wife and pet menagerie of 3 dogs and a cat. “I truly missed the peace and tranquility that exists in Alaska. The sense of community and caring for each other that is noticeably absent in big metropolitan areas outside of Alaska.” In his free time, Chris enjoys the many projects that come with being a homeowner, fishing/hunting and watching sports.
