Here we go again Brown Bear Fans! It’s nearly the weekend and once again our boys have been hard at it, on the ice and in the community! This week we feature #18 Gil Garcia one of our stellar offensive linemen, and # 3 Cam McDonald who helps anchor our Brown Bear Defense! With Gil up front and Cam backing him up there are goals to be scored and big hits to be made on the Johnstown Tomahawks who have shown up in Alaska to try and rumble up the Bear’s Den! This last week Gil spent his “free” time at North Star Elementary, tutoring and playing with the kids at recess. I’m sure the kids from North Star had a hard time roughing Gil up, he’s pretty steady on his skates! Cam also spent some time at North Star, and Soldotna Elementary as well! I’m betting good money Cam evaded a hip check or two from the kids! if you have been around either of these schools in the last week it’s a sure bet you ran into one of our Brown Bear players! They are making themselves well known at our local Elementaries, and I’m willing to bet our school teachers LOVE the help and distraction the guys provide to their students! Nothing like a hockey player to break up the day! They devote an immense amount of time in our local youth whether it is at the Schools or on the ice with the KPHA Hockey teams, YOUR Brown Bears are truly dedicated to the kids in our community. The Bears generally have one day “off” a week when they are here at home and that’s on Sunday , and just so you all know, a group of these guys gave up their off time this last week and they were at the rink and on the ice on Sunday, skating skills with the KPHA youth! Now THAT’S dedication! Dedication to our community, and dedication to the game they love, so if you aren’t at the Sports Center this Friday and Saturday at 730PM sharp your going to be missed because Gil, Cam, and the rest of the guys wanna feel those rafters shake with YOU and hundreds of others stomping in the stands! See you there, and as always be extra loud when Cam and Gil skate by! They’ll be looking for you! GO BEARS!
