Porter Schachle Commits to Alaska-Anchorage

The Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Porter Schachle has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the WCHA.
Schachle, 18, is entering his second season of playing junior hockey in the NAHL with the Brown Bears this season. The 6’3/190 lbs. native of Wasilla, Alaska, appeared in 23 regular season games with the Brown Bears during the 2018-19 season and recorded 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists).
Schachle actually scored his first goal in his NAHL debut, which was a 7-3 win over Janesville on September 15, 2018.
“I’m proud and excited to announce my commitment to further my education and to play hockey for the University of Alaska Anchorage. I’d like to thank my family, teammates, and coaches who have supported me along the way #goseawolves”, said Schachle on Twitter.
“Porter has put in a lot of work both last season, and over the summer. We are very proud of him earning his commitment to UAA, and excited to see him be leader for the Brown Bears this season,” said Brown Bears Assistant Head Coach Dan Bogdan.
Prior to playing for Kenai River in the NAHL, Schachle spent one season playing for the Alaska Oilers U18 team in addition to playing high school hockey for Wasilla High.
