KENAI RIVER BROWN BEARS ADD TO STAFF

The Kenai River Brown Bears, proud members of the North American Hockey League, announced today that they have added Patrick Kelly in the role of Media Relations/Fan Engagement/Play by Play.

A graduate of Lindenwood University, being around hockey has always been a passion for Patrick. He started announcing high school hockey at age 13, carrying his experience to college where he announced Men’s and Women’s hockey along with various other sports. While at Lindenwood he started broadcasting for the St. Louis Ambush of the MASL, a position he remained at for three years while also contributing to their digital department. While announcing he held other jobs such as being a wedding DJ and working for various St. Louis area radio stations.

Patrick’s life has always been about living and breathing hockey. His father has been calling games in the NHL for over thirty years, working for the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Colorado Avalanche, and St. Louis Blues. His grandfather was also an announcer in the NHL, calling 16 Stanley Cup Finals along with being the voice of the St. Louis Blues for over twenty years.

“We are excited to welcome Patrick to the Brown Bears in this multifaceted role.  He has been around a lot of hockey and will bring that energy to our organization.’” stated General Manager Chris Hedlund.  “In this role he will work on Digital/social media, game day events, interviews, on location recordings and intermission activities.   He will get the opportunity to engage fans and bring excitement to game day.”

Kelly has started by attending training camp in MN at the Breezy Point Sports Center where he is staying with the team.  He will spend the season on the Peninsula and be immersed in the great Alaska Culture!  The Brown Bears will have an exhibition game on  Tuesday September 7 with the St Cloud Norseman before breaking camp and heading to the Season Opener Friday September 10th at Chippewa Falls starting at 4:00 pm local time.
