Taylor Shaw

Shaw, a native of Sartell, MN will begin his second season as Head Coach entering the 2023-2024 season. Shaw’s first season as Head Coach of the Brown Bears during the 2022-2023 season resulted in a franchise record breaking 32 wins in addition to securing a 3rd place finish in the Midwest Division Robertson Cup Playoffs. 

Shaw joined Kenai River Brown Bears staff ahead of the 2021-2022 season after spending three seasons with the Gillette Wild in the NA3HL. During his time in Gillette, Shaw held various positions including most recently serving as the Associate Head Coach. In addition to his roles with the Wild, he has served as both the Gillette Youth Hockey Association Skill Director and Goalie Clinic Coordinator. During the summer months, Shaw also currently serves as a Head Coach for Team Northwest AAA Hockey.

Prior to his time in Gillette, Shaw spent three seasons as an Assistant Coach of the Proctor Boys High School Hockey team in Proctor, MN. In 2014, he started his coaching career as a Bantam Coach for the Duluth East Youth Hockey Association in Duluth, MN.

Since graduating from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 2016, he has been an Economics Teacher at Minnesota Connections Academy. Shaw resides in Minnesota with his wife Brittany, and their two kids.
